Hot Landscape

During a summer holiday in the south of France, and an artist residency in Andalusia, Spain. The beautiful landscapes fascinated me. Mountains and forests bathing in golden sunlight. Awesome pastel coloured skies at sundawn and sunset, hills with vineyards.
But the extreme draught caught my eye, dry coarse land, no rain had fallen for months. It was extremly hot and local farmers and the famous wine chateaux were very worried about their crops, and afraid to loose their land and homes. Nearby the places where I stayed, forestfires occured and huge smoke plumes arkened the sky above mountains. Meanwhile this was happening on every continent of the planet. The temperatures are rising due to climate change. Do we need more signs? Will we losse the beautiful landscapes we love so much and that are part of our shared natural and cultural heritage. What will happen to these wellknown landscapes? How Hot will our lands become in the future. This work reflects my admiration for the beauty of nature as well as my fear of losing it, as we know it. That is visible in the choice of colours and materials. All materials are repurposed scraps of textiles and other materials found locally, on a cotton, acrylic painted background.
