Under the Blue Sky

We humans are on the land. They live, build, demolish, mine, draw from it, do agriculture. We are cutting down forests and planting forests elsewhere on the earth. We, the people, are manipulating the country, the land. In the meantime, there are those big elements like the overarching sky, the oceans with their surf, the sun. Those great eternal elements that seem unchanging and determine life. That's a quiet science, and peace in the vistas, quiet presence in landscapes. That's what this work is about. Landscapes are a favorite subject for many old masters who created many in the past. This is a contemporary landscape, with a reference to current events such as global warming, and the hand of man in his immediate environment, which means that the landscape is constantly changing.
