Dreaming
Dimensions: 200 x 200 x 200 cm
Year: 2013

Femke got a large bag with leftovers from the Amsterdam Museum for the project Salon Kant. All pieces were white and tiny pieces, very old or more recent from the restoration atelier of the museum. Dreaming is what happened when the lace pieces were washed, dried and selected . Associations came up varying from 17th century portraits with big white lace collars to the seductive ladies in black lace in magazines and musicvideos. And all the meanings that accompany these images. This resulted in an installation with five different layers of the lace dipped in black dye. The matter is the same, the quality and supreme elaborated beauty of the lace is the same, only the color differs, like with human beings. That is what was intended to show. Dreaming has been shown in many international exhibitons.
