Several girls garments are used in this piece that is partly dip dyed and combined with black fabrics. Representing phases in the childhood of girls. When the fascination for fairytales and the colours pink and other pastels are changed for a fascination for popstars and sturdy blacks and greys. The phase when girls loose their innocence and want to be stronger and tougher, more prepared for the outside world. Femke remembers going through this phase, as did her daughter and so many other girls said goodbye to sweet pastel tones to armour themselves from being seen as small, cute, girly and soft by others.
